Pool speakers · Built into the wall
LL9484 Integrated
The most popular underwater speaker in the world, fitted flush in a stainless wet niche in the pool wall. The natural choice for a new concrete pool or a major renovation.
Overview
Since Alan Lubell invented and patented it in 1968, the Lubell underwater loudspeaker has become the most widely used in the world. Its dual piston design, PVC over moulded on a marine grade aluminium enclosure, leaves no exposed metal parts, and its piezoelectric engine reaches efficiencies close to 60%.
The LL9484 kit puts that speaker into the wall of the pool. A stainless steel wet niche is set into the concrete during construction, and the speaker sits behind a flush grille. Once the pool is finished, the only thing swimmers see is a small round grille.
Built in Lubell speakers are a standard feature in collegiate pools and in luxury hotel and resort pools around the world. Coaches use them to talk to swimmers through a wireless microphone, guests swim lengths to music, and announcements reach everyone in the water.

Planning the installation
Lubell’s installation guide suggests one kit for each section of about 6 × 6 m of pool, at 1.5 to 1.8 m depth on a flat part of the wall. For a 50 m pool it places eight kits, four on each long wall. Every pool is different, so treat this as a starting point. Send us the drawings and we will recommend a layout to the best of our knowledge.
The niche is installed during new concrete or gunite construction, or during a major renovation, by a licensed pool contractor and electrician. It must be bonded to the pool’s equipotential grid like any light niche. The LL9484 is not suitable for vinyl liner pools.
