The range
Built into the wall
The most popular underwater speaker in the world since 1968. Fitted flush in a stainless wet niche during new concrete pool construction, it is standard in club, college and resort pools.
Portable, caged
Most chosenReady to use the day it arrives. Lower the caged speaker into any existing pool, lake or harbour, plug in the cable and play. The steel cage protects it from knocks, which also makes it a favourite for underwater acoustics research.
Portable, harnessed
The same LL916 speaker in a low profile fabric harness instead of a cage. The economical way to bring sound to a private pool or a training session.
Synchronised swimming
The portable sound system built for synchronised swimming. One battery case plays above and below the surface, streams from a phone and lets the coach talk over the music.
Competitive swimming
Louder air and underwater sound for training competitive and synchronised swimmers. Coach through the wireless mic, or play music and beats from a phone.

Planning a built in installation?
For speakers built into the pool wall, such as the LL9484, a common rule of thumb is about one speaker for every 6 metres of pool length. It is only a starting point: the shape and depth of the pool and the way it is used all change the answer.
Portable systems, such as the CAWSS, work differently and do not follow this rule. One portable speaker can often serve a whole pool.

Portable speakers go straight into the water. Built in speakers are fitted into a wall niche by your pool builder and electrician.
It depends on the pool and on the type of installation. For speakers built into the wall, a rule of thumb is about one speaker for every 6 metres of pool length, but the shape, depth and use of the pool all change the answer. Portable systems work differently: a single portable LL916 can often fill a whole pool. Tell us about your pool and we will recommend a setup to the best of our knowledge.
Yes. The portable LL916C and LL916H hang into the water and plug into the amplifier with no construction work. The built in LL9484 suits new pools or pools under maintenance.
Yes. The speakers are built from PVC and stainless steel and are compatible with salt water, chlorination systems and heated pools.
Yes. The amplifier accepts a hi fi system, CD player, computer or microphone. The CAWSS system adds Bluetooth for phones and tablets, plus a USB and SD player.
No. Underwater we cannot tell which direction a sound comes from. The amplifier mixes the available channels into one signal for the water, so nothing is lost.
Around 1.5 to 1.8 metres is ideal. The speaker also works at shallower depths, with a little less bass and volume, so it suits most residential pools.

A single speaker reaches typical ranges of up to 500 metres at a level that is safe for divers, which is why dive schools use it for recall.
